ANDREW PIERCE: The 5ft heroine standing up to a campaign of hatred by the militant trans lobby

By Iron Will / May 23, 2023 /

As the first Muslim to serve on a parliamentary frontbench, Baroness Falkner of Margravine is no stranger to the rough and tumble of party politics.

But nothing prepared the lifelong Lib Dem, who was born and brought up in Pakistan, for the outpouring of racist and misogynistic abuse when she had the temerity to enter the highly charged arena of trans rights.

Falkner, 68, the head of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), argued last month that the Equality Act should be updated to ensure the protected characteristic of ‘sex’ was taken to mean ‘biological sex’.

In a 19-page letter to Kemi Badenoch, the equalities minister, Falkner also recommended that the Act be amended to introduce explicit legal protections for biological women in same-sex spaces, such as changing rooms and hospital wards, and to exclude trans women from female sports.

Yulia Hicks, the North Carolina girl denied a kidney transplant by Duke University surgeons because she was not vaccinated against Covid, will get her new kidney Thursday
Finally, a happy ending.
In December, I wrote about Yulia Hicks, a 14-year-old North Carolina girl denied a lifesaving kidney transplant for the crime of being unvaccinated.
Transplant surgeons at Duke University Hospital told her parents that Yulia could not stay on the transplant list if she did not have a Covid shot, even though she had already had Covid.
The story, which Fox News picked up, led to a wave of publicity – and more than 30 potential donors stepped forward. Fortunately, one was a match.

Now, another North Carolina hospital has stepped up, and Yulia will receive a new kidney from a live donor tomorrow.

Defying Feminist Commands

By Iron Will / May 23, 2023 /

Feminists believe that they know what is best for women. Together with the mainstream media, they have pushed their policies forward as self-evident truths, from which no deviation is allowed.

There’s no policy more fervently promoted by feminists than the one that women can only be equal to men if they take their place in the labour force, earning a wage. They claim this enriches women’s lives, and gives them independence from the patriarchy. They offer no other path for women. Progressives believe that remaining at home caring for one’s family is “wasting” women’s potential, arguing that they make no meaningful contribution to society.

But something is changing. More women are rejecting the feminist propaganda which is to maintain their careers because motherhood is career suicide. This has been endlessly played and repeated on the feminist soundtrack. However, there is a new movement, indicating that women are resisting the feminists’ siren call and are instead, making independent choices to remain at home caring for their families.

Eric Kaufmann: The Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Bill is a triumphant pushback against illiberalism

By Iron Will / May 22, 2023 /

The Higher Education Freedom of Speech Bill completed its passage through Parliament this month. It’s been a long three-year road to victory.

The Bill places a duty on universities to not just protect, but promote academic freedom. More importantly, it establishes an academic freedom directorate within the Office for Students, the sector regulator, to monitor university policies. The Academic Freedom Director is likely going to be an individual with a strong belief in the mission.

The directorate will host an ombudsman to which students can swiftly appeal if universities try to punish them for holding controversial views, as occurred with gender-critical feminists like Jo Phoenix at the University of Essex or Kathleen Stock at the University of Sussex. In addition, the legislation empowers students and staff to sue universities that violate their academic freedom, a powerful incentive for university managers to reject the illiberalism of woke activists.
