Electric car battery swapping gets a reboot

By Iron Will / May 18, 2023 /

Charging an electric vehicle (EV) is a time-consuming burden — which is why the notion of battery swapping, dismissed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and many others as unworkable, is still percolating.

Why it matters: Many drivers won’t embrace EVs unless the refueling experience is as seamless as filling up a gas tank.

Driving the news: Ample, a California startup dedicated to battery swapping, is introducing a new streamlined station that cuts the process in half, to about five minutes.

Riley Gaines Urges Congress to Pass Bill Defining ‘Woman’

By Iron Will / May 17, 2023 /

Riley Gaines, a former top college athlete, called on Congress on Wednesday to pass the “Women’s Bill of Rights,” which would clarify that the term “woman” is based on biology rather than personal identity when it appears in federal law.

The bill, led by Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) and cosponsored by about two dozen other Republicans, would codify the meanings of several of these sex-based terms, including “sex,” “woman,” “man,” “girl,” “boy,” “mother,” and “father.”

“This is crucial to ensure that women, we’re entitled to our privacy and our safety and our fairness and our equal opportunity,” Gaines said, adding, “I’m speaking for so much more than just myself.”

FBI director Christopher Wray faces articles of impeachment for targeting pro-lifers, Catholics

By Iron Will / May 17, 2023 /

WASHINGTON, D.C (LifeSiteNews) — Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray should be impeached for the agency’s role in targeting pro-lifers and Latin Mass Catholics, according to a resolution set to be introduced by Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“Under Wray’s watch, the FBI has intimidated, harassed, and entrapped American citizens that have been deemed enemies of the Biden regime. As such, Director Wray has turned the FBI into Joe Biden and Merrick Garland’s personal police force,” the resolution, first obtained by The Daily Caller, states. “The Soviet-style tactics used by the FBI against normal Americans are unprecedented in this country. FBI whistleblower Garret O’Boyle told congressional investigators that the FBI created a terrorist threat tag following the Dobbs Supreme Court decision in 2022.”

How computer games encourage kids to spend cash

By Iron Will / May 16, 2023 /

Nara Ward says keeping track of her kids’ spending when they are playing their favourite computer games is a full-time job.

Ms Ward lives in Barbados with her husband and sons, Finn, 14, and Leif, 12.

When Leif started playing Roblox, he began asking for robux – the game’s currency – that allows players to upgrade their character or buy virtual items. So his grandparents gave him $200 (£159) Apple credit for Christmas.

“To my shock, he spent all of it in a matter of days,” says Ms Ward. “After that, I gave him no more than $10 worth of robux per month. He quickly became frustrated and bored with the game.”

Leif moved on to World of Tanks, which also requires players to upgrade their weaponry using PlayStation credit.

“However, this game has the option to watch ads to gain credit,” says Ms Ward. “He would do that out of desperation when he had used up his monthly gaming allowance.”

Ms Ward says her younger son has yet to learn self-control or money-sense.

LECCE PROMISED “BACK TO BASICS” EDUCATION WITH BILL 98. HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULDN’T BELIEVE HIM.

By Iron Will / May 16, 2023 /

We’ve been looking into a new bill in Ontario, one the government says will fix the academic decrepitude in schools, but you’re not going to believe what the Doug Ford PCs are stuffing into this Trojan Horse!

Back on April 19th, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce suggested that his newly introduced Bill 98 would refocus schools on reading, writing and math.

In a mass email announcing the proposed government legislation, the subject line read: “Back to Basics in Education”.

Sounds wonderful so far, doesn’t it?

Especially after the last few years in which parents have suffered a tsunami of LGBT ideology and Critical Race Theory indoctrination in their children’s classrooms.

On the surface, it would appear that Lecce is responding in a positive way to the runaway wokeism that has recently caused fed-up parents to speak out at school board meetings across Ontario.

To give you just a few examples, recent parent uprisings erupted and made the news in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board over transgender washrooms, in the Durham District School Board over gay pornography books, and in the Waterloo Catholic School Board over hate speech directed at “white Christian males”.

“My home was raided by ten unmarked units, state troopers, federal law enforcement personnel,” Houck told the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government during a hearing. “I had five federal agents on my doorstep at 6:30 in the morning, with long guns pointed at me and my seven children.”

By Iron Will / May 16, 2023 /

TORONTO — Ontario has the potential to see nearly 100,000 more women enter the labour market due to $10-a-day child care, but only if the province creates more daycare spaces, a report from the Financial Accountability Office said Tuesday.

Labour participation rates for mothers with children under six years old, the ages covered by the national child-care program, increased by 2.4 percentage points just from 2021 to 2022, the first year the reduced fees started taking effect, the report said.
