Liberal MP blasts Trudeau-backed ‘safe supply’ drug programs, linking them to ‘chaos’ in cities

By Shawna / April 17, 2024 /

A Liberal MP has seemingly taken issue with “safe supply” drug policies for increasing public disorder in Canada, policies his own party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has endorsed.

During an April 15 health committee meeting in the House of Commons, Liberal MP Dr. Marcus Powlowski, while pressing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), stated that “safe supply” drug policies have caused Canadians to feel unsafe in downtown Ottawa and in other major cities across the country.

“There is certainly the perception by a lot of Canadians that a lot of downtown cores are basically out of control,” Powlowski said.

“Certainly there is also the perception that around places like safe supply, safe injection sites, that things are worse, that there are people openly stoned in the street,” he continued.

“People are getting cardio-pulmonary resuscitation performed on them in the street. There are needles around on the street. There is excrement on the street,” Powlowski added.

Election Irregularities ‘Fuzzy’

By Valerie / April 8, 2024 /

Cabinet-appointed election monitors found it “really difficult” to track Chinese interference in the 2021 campaign, says one director. Spotting the difference between misconduct and ordinary election activities was “a very fuzzy area,” the China inquiry was told.

“Had we been more certain we could have maybe applied more certainty to it,” testified Gallit Dobner, member of a Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections Task Force. “Does that make sense?” she asked.

The Task Force in a secret November 1, 2021 report Key Observations From General Election 44 said it was clear that China “sought to clandestinely and deceptively influence Canada’s 2021 federal election.” The report identified “online media activities aimed at discouraging Canadians from supporting the Conservative Party.

Alberta premier warns of safe supply drugs seeping into province

By Valerie / April 3, 2024 /

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said there’s a “worrying trend” of prescription opioids seeping into the illegal market as she announced two new organizations to help those struggling with addiction.

Last month, Ottawa refused the Alberta government’s request to put chemical trackers in B.C.’s safe supply drugs to identify those drugs.

Smith says B.C. has a right to develop its own policy, but she has to ensure Alberta isn’t dealing with the fallout from it.
