OMG Starts Campaign to Expose Dirty Lawyers

By Iron Will / July 25, 2023 /

The O’Keefe Media Group is telling a story similar to what millions of Americans have endured: attorneys who seem to wield the legal system not as a tool for justice, but as a benefit for them and their clients’ advantage.

In the footage, Audrey Lee Anderson in Nashville, TN tells a disguised James O’Keefe that if he doesn’t want his text messages being seen in the discovery process, that he “better start deleting crap.” James O’Keefe continues to press her about deleting stuff and whether he’d have to say “I deleted it” before she then advises him to get “separate legal advice on that.”

Sunak will have to water down net zero sooner or later 25 July 2023, 10:04am

By Iron Will / July 25, 2023 /

The Uxbridge by-election has thrown Labour into a civil war, or at least a civil skirmish. Keir Starmer has told Sadiq Khan to think again on Ulez, and Khan has shown great reluctance to do so. But it has exposed a schism in the Conservatives, too.

Yesterday, Rishi Sunak declared that efforts to reach the government’s net zero target should not be allowed to push up the cost of living for struggling families – leading some to predict that some policies, such as the ban on petrol and diesel cars from 2030, could be scrapped.

Conflicted Twitter Source OK

By Iron Will / July 24, 2023 /

Reporters may conceal conflicts of interest involving analysts they quote in stories, under a ruling by a national press ombudsman. The decision came in the case of a Twitter source quoted by Anja Karadeglija, a National Post reporter and journalism instructor.

“Generally speaking journalists are free to choose the sources they deem credible,” said Cara Sabatini, spokesperson for the National News Media Council. There were insufficient grounds “to support a complaint about a breach of journalistic standards,” she added.

The ruling came on a Blacklock’s complaint over a June 14 story by Karadeglija headlined, “Sued For Sharing Your Password?” The story purported to cover the subject matter of a three-day Federal Court hearing involving Blacklock’s lawsuit against Parks Canada for sharing passwords without payment or permission in breach of the Copyright Act.

Beware China Dupes: Memo

By Iron Will / July 24, 2023 /

Friends of China may be spreading pro-Beijing propaganda to “pollute the general media” in Canada, warns a Department of Public Safety briefing note. Cabinet is reviewing a proposal to mandate public disclosure of advocates acting on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party.

“Information could be disseminated by Canadians who may not be fully aware it originates from a foreign principal or entity,” said the March 3 briefing note Election Interference. “Unclear labeling of state-backed communications can produce public or media messaging that reinforces interests of foreign states and circulates propaganda and disinformation that could either misdirect citizens or pollute the general media and information environment.”

Chinese State Media Mentions — But Won’t Name — Missing Foreign Minister

By Iron Will / July 24, 2023 /

A column on China’s diplomacy in Africa in the state-run newspaper Global Times on Sunday noted “China’s foreign minister” engaged in a tour of the continent in January – a notable observation given the column did not name Foreign Minister Qin Gang who has been missing for a month.

Qin made his last public appearance on June 25, meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart. The foreign minister has canceled multiple prestigious engagements with little to no explanation since then, most prominently missing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit last week. Chinese officials claimed there were “physical reasons” behind his absence at the ASEAN event, but did not elaborate on the claim and have yet to offer any clearer information on the situation
