No Xe/Xir without parental consent, says Minister of Educati

By Iron Will / June 2, 2023 /

New Brunswick’s Minister of Education is considering requiring parental consent before teachers are permitted to call their children with random pronouns — something that teachers are currently allowed to do.

Minister Bill Hogan has not provided comment on the matter while the policy is under review, but admitted parental backlash sparked the debate.

But Hogan did confirm he’s reviewing Policy 713, made to support LGBT students, “after hearing concerns and misunderstandings of its implementation.”

One section under review says that teachers need to respect students’ preferred pronouns, even if the child declines to inform his or her parents.

For students under 16, schools are required to ask parents for consent before changing a child’s name on a report card and other official documents.

Parents Push Back on Pride Month in Ontario Schools

By Iron Will / June 1, 2023 /

The recent decision by a Catholic school board in Ontario’s York Region not to fly the pride flag during Pride Month in June is emblematic of a province-wide call to halt flag-raisings and other events expected in schools throughout the month.

Many parents are looking at pulling their children out of school during such events. A national walk-out is scheduled for June 1 and gaining traction.

“All this political propaganda that’s coming in, it’s all influences that the kids don’t need. They’re already confused enough,” German Reyes, a York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) parent, told The Epoch Times at a May 29 board meeting.

“They need to learn about sexuality and all that stuff, but they can learn from their parents.”

Twitter fact checks federal museum’s claim of 215 residential school graves

By Iron Will / June 1, 2023 /

A subsequent “community notes” tag added by Twitter debunked the extraordinary claims made by the CMHR.

“No human remains have so far been found at the KIRS site, but 215 soil disturbances were found,” wrote the community note.

“The RCMP has not been allowed to investigate, and Dr. Beaulieu stated that ground penetrating radar is not capable of determining if a disturbance is human remains.”

As reported exclusively by True North, two years later, the claim made by the CMHR has no evidence to back it up.

One Flew Over the Kangaroo Court: My Close Encounter With Ontario’s Human Rights Bureaucracy

By Shawna / June 1, 2023 /

In Summer 2021, my son was disqualified from applying for a free computer programming course because of his race. With my curiosity sparked by his frustration, I have experienced an ongoing series of bureaucratic burlesques while arguing against such obvious racial discrimination. “SummerUP” is a summer program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education (and hence by taxpayers of all races) offering free courses to high school students on topics ranging from computer programming to photography to yoga.
