Roughly 3,000 light years away is a binary star system in the constellation Corona Borealis. As its name suggests, a binary star system consists of two stars. In this case, one is a large red giant star, and the other is a small, but incredibly dense white dwarf.

As they orbit each other, the red giant’s material gets sloughed off and falls into the white dwarf where it accumulates and heats up. The white dwarf then experiences a thermonuclear explosion — a nova — brightening to a point where we can see it with the unaided eye on Earth.

Tropical fish, cash stolen from Ottawa Valley restaurant Owner told police fish were worth thousands of dollars

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after tropical fish were among the goods taken last week from a restaurant northwest of Ottawa.

In a news release, police said the break-in happened early Thursday morning in Beachburg and that cash was also taken.

woman brought a 68-year-old man in a wheelchair into a bank branch and tried to get him to sign for a loan, but he had been dead for hours, Brazilian police said on Wednesday.
Erika Vieira Nunes wheeled the cadaver into the bank in a Rio suburb on Tuesday and told the teller the man wanted a loan for 17,000 reais ($3,250), security camera video showed.
She held a pen and moved his hand forward to no response.
“Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign,” she said, according to the security video, suggesting she sign for him.
