Climate Alarmism

Mark Carney’s lacklustre lookahead and the broken hockey stick

By Shawna / April 28, 2024 /

Carney made the astounding claim that ‘being low-carbon is a fundamental driver of competition’ — a laughable claim…

Carney was happy that the Canadian government accepted ~80% of the “Blueprint” housing plan which he and colleagues put together in advance of the federal housing plan…

Carney appears to be unaware that fellow Canadians, economist Ross McKitrick and mining analyst Steve McIntyre broke the “Hockey Stick” graph that launched climate hysteria…

Carney did not talk about is the risk of a world without energy security. These are risks he ostensibly helped create with his prophesy…

Extreme Weather and Climate Change – Kenneth P, Green – Fraser Institute

By Shawna / April 27, 2024 /

many types of extreme weather show no signs of increasing and in some cases are decreasing. Drought has shown no clear increasing trend, nor has flooding. Hurricane intensity and number show no increasing trend. Globally, wildfires have shown no clear trend in increasing number or intensity, while in Canada, wildfires have actually been decreasing in number and areas consumed from the 1950s to the present.

Dubai’s record rainfall, and other urban transformation stories you need to read

By Shawna / April 27, 2024 /

Record storm disrupts desert city Dubai
Air traffic and transport in Dubai were brought to a standstill this month after United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman were hit by a storm that caused the heaviest rainfall since records began 75 years ago.

The downpour, which scientists said was exacerbated by climate change, led to flooding on highways, trapped people in their homes, and closed government offices and schools for several days.

Pope: ‘Deniers of Climate Change’ Are ‘Foolish’

By Iron Will / April 27, 2024 /

Liberal Pope Francis has declared that “deniers of claim change” are “foolish” because “they don’t understand the situation” regarding “global warming.”

In a new interview, the head of the Catholic Church insisted that “climate change exists” while blasting those who don’t believe globalists’ “research.”

The pope made the comments to CBS Evening News in an interview that aired this week.

Francis decried those described as “deniers of climate change” by CBS’s Norah O’Donnell.

“There are people who are foolish,” the 87-year-old Pontiff responded.

Why the polar bears don’t need to worry

By Iron Will / April 27, 2024 /

NOT A lot of people know, or rather a lot of people don’t want it to be common knowledge, that the maximum extent the Northern Hemisphere sea-ice cover occurs at approximately the same time as the Spring Equinox. This simple fact would undermine the foundations of the ‘warmist’ propaganda, which has focused for the last two months months on how warm the weather has been (especially in the middle-class, metropolitan bubble of SE England), and would scupper the hand-wringing by such luminaries as Saints Attenborough, Packham and Thunberg.

This graph clearly shows the annual fluctuation of ice cover over time. It is worth emphasising that the range of year-on-year values is quite narrow, as indicated by the upper and lower quartile and decile bands (the grey areas on the graph). This demonstrates that the annual pattern is remarkably consistent, and not marked by sudden variations as the warmists would like to have us believe. The diagram shows the behaviour of this year’s ice growth and that of 2012, which was the year of minimum north polar ice extent. The fact that recent years, including this one, although below average, have not continued the falling trend is again contrary to the publicity of the Green lobby. From late December until the end of January, the extent of ice cover entered the decile range and for a few days had reached the quartile band, i.e. within +/- 25 per cent of the mean value. It is clear that the annual range of ice coverage is large, and runs into several millions of square kilometres: it is therefore a major physical entity on a global scale.

Smoke, mirrors and CO2 emissions, Part 2

By Iron Will / April 26, 2024 /

THERE is a move afoot in the Western world to prevent anyone from having a new idea. Not unlike the Inquisition in its fervour, this latest version is being disguised as a caring attempt to protect citizens from the harm that comes from what is being called misinformation. It has been tried many times before, mostly by common or garden varieties of dictators, who proudly boast that 97 per cent of the population agree with their diktats, little realising that the claim itself is misinformation.

The collective brilliance of deniers such as Copernicus, Galileo, Harvey, Newton, Darwin, Einstein and a multitude of serious thinkers brought us the Industrial Revolution which freed increasingly large numbers of humanity to escape the tyranny of subsistence living. Being derided by their peers does not prove they are wrong. A lower level of insult is to say that a sceptic who is not trained in the particular scientific discipline is not competent to have an opinion, but this applies to every one of the giants mentioned above.

The climate change charade makes headway by obfuscation, mixing vastly different units to hide reality as for example when warning of the threat posed by CO2 emissions, they count them in millions of tons (mt), but when crying over the effects of these emissions on global warming, they speak of parts per million (ppm) of atmospheric CO2. How is the man in the street to make sense of these two quantities? I explained here how its effect is to present a very ‘black’ picture, rather than a rather white one.

Eco-terrorists’ blight on the countryside

By Iron Will / April 26, 2024 /

ENVIRONMENT campaigners are urging everyone who cares for nature to unite and march through London to Parliament Square on Saturday June 22 with a demand to all political parties: ‘Restore Nature Now’.

The demonstrators will be demanding that urgent action is taken to remedy attacks on our beautiful countryside and our way of life. Sadly these demands are not on the agenda of the organisers:

Stop the destruction of high-quality farmland through the erection of ineffective, insect-killing and ugly solar farms;

Prevent the creation of bird-slicing wind farms. Remove the blight of existing wind turbines;

Abandon plans by the National Grid to cover the land with pylons;

Support British cattle and sheep farmers to ensure food security and the maintenance of dry stone walls and hedges;

Support the poor by abolishing ‘green’ subsidies and related taxation.

Chart of the Day (CotD) There Is No Climate Emergency, by Eldric Vero

By Iron Will / April 26, 2024 /

This is a Special Edition CotD which was inspired by the Global Climate Intelligence Group “World Climate Declaration – There Is No Climate Emergency” (see link: https://clintel.org/world-climate-declaration/ ). From the website article : A global network of over 1900 scientists and professionals has prepared this urgent message. Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures.

In conclusion, don’t let the terrifying stories of supranational institutions – such as the UN, EU and WEF – scare you. Particularly, climate alarmist must no use extreme weather events to poison our children with fear.

The gradual global warming, which started around 1700 after the end of the Little Ice Age, is a fact and has not caused any serious problem. Our advice is: “Enjoy today’s climate, because stories from the Little Ice Age tell us that a cold climate is full of hardship”.

If we continue to invest in innovation, mankind can easily cope with any effect of further warming. Hence, we must stop the demoralizing back-to-the-past mitigation solutions. We observe that it only leads to decline and poverty.
