NYC pays $2.1m to settle lawsuit alleging racial bias against white supervisors

By Valerie / May 7, 2024 /

New York City has agreed to pay $2.1 million to three former white Department of Education executives who alleged they were demoted due to their race in favor of less qualified candidates of color.

The payouts of $700,000 each to Lois Hererra, Jaye Murray, and Laura Feijoo resolve a $90 million lawsuit filed in 2018. The former officials accused the education department under then-Chancellor Richard Carranza of discriminating against them based on race as part of a push for racial “equity,” the New York Post reports.

Decline and fall: Trends in family formation and fertility in Canada since 2001

By Valerie / May 7, 2024 /

In this paper we examine three questions: do people gain significantly from being part of a family; what are the trends in family formation in Canada over the past two decades; and what factors explain these trends?

We find that being part of a family is very beneficial, both in terms of income and of overall well-being. Adults in a couple earn significantly more per person than singles of the same age, and married people live longer and have better mental health and well-being than non-married people, even common-law couples. How the White House Got Amazon to Censor Books for Promoting ‘Vaccine Misinformation’

By Roli / May 6, 2024 /

In March 2021, the Biden White House initiated a brazenly unconstitutional censorship campaign to prevent Americans from buying politically unfavorable books from Amazon.

The effort, spearheaded by White House censors including Andy Slavitt and Rob Flaherty, began on March 2, 2021, when Slavitt emailed Amazon demanding to speak to an executive about the site’s “high levels of propaganda and misinformation and disinformation.”

Their subsequent discussions remain unknown, but recently released emails from the House Judiciary Committee reveal that the censors achieved their intended result. Within a week, Amazon adopted a shadow ban policy.

‘Despicable’: Facebook Censors RFK Jr. Campaign Video, Calls It a ‘Mistake’

By Roli / May 6, 2024 /

The super PAC supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president said it plans to sue Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, for the company’s “blatant censorship” of a new film about Kennedy and his work challenging corporate corruption.

Super PACs, or “political action committees,” can raise unlimited sums of money to advocate for or against political candidates, according to OpenSecrets.org.

Actor Woody Harrelson narrates the 30-minute biographical film, “Who is Bobby Kennedy?,” which details Kennedy’s life and why he’s running for president.

Kennedy, Children’s Health Defense (CHD) founder and chairman-on-leave, said in a press release, “If supporters of all candidates do not have equal access to the digital public square, then we have a democracy in name only.”

He added:

“This goes beyond restricting freedom of expression on issues and ideas. Meta is censoring a biographical film about a major candidate in an election year. How can voters make an informed choice if they are denied basic information about a candidate’s life?”

Dr. Pierre Kory: To Expose the Truth, ‘You’ve Got to Navigate Through the Censors’

By Roli / May 3, 2024 /

Is the “Overton Window” — the range of narratives acceptable to the mainstream media and policymakers — expanding to include perspectives that contradict the official narrative on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments?

Speaking on this week’s edition of “The Defender In-Depth,” Dr. Pierre Kory said he believes it is — at least in the mainstream media.

Kory, president and chief medical officer of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), cited several op-eds he wrote with journalist Mary Beth Pfeiffer since August 2023.

The op-eds were published in mainstream outlets, each of which incrementally expanded the range of counternarratives considered acceptable for publication.

The first op-ed, published in August 2023 by USA Today, addressed the unexplained increase in excess deaths in 2021 — without mentioning vaccines.
