Liberal MP Chrystia Freeland (University-Rosedale, Ont.) yesterday praised cabinet as being “careful with Canada’s money” under her four-year tenure as finance minister. Freeland five weeks ago tabled budget records confirming her last deficit went 55 percent over target.
“I am running to be leader of the Liberal Party and the next Prime Minister of Canada,” Freeland told Toronto supporters. The Party votes March 9.
“As finance minister I stabilized the economy during the Covid recession,” said Freeland. “We brought inflation and interest rates down more effectively than any other country in the G7.”
