New Democrat and Liberal MPs yesterday sought to censure Conservative finance critic MP Jasraj Singh Hallan (Calgary Forest Lawn) in apparent retribution for a 37-day budget filibuster. “I am not here to make friends,” Hallan told the Commons finance committee.
“When I come to this job every single day when I wake up I remember who I represent, every single day,” said Hallan. “I don’t think I will back down from doing the job I was sent here to do,” he added. “I don’t think that would be the point of me being here.”
“You want to get rid of me?” asked Hallan. “I am sure there are a lot of people in Parliament who want to get rid of me. I am not here to make friends.”
