Medicare’s Frighteningly Bad
Canadian medicare is so bad people consider it frightening, say in-house research by the Department of Health. The national survey found Canadians were typically afraid they would never receive life-saving treatment when needed.

“Discussion groups began with a general question about the state of the health care system today,” said the department report. “Participants fairly consistently indicated having great concerns or rather fears about access to services and delays in tests or treatment.”

“Across all groups, participants were fairly consistent in expressing concerns about the current state of the system,” said the Baseline Assessment Of Canadians’ Health Data Literacy And Values Related To Health Data Sharing Research Report. “While the actual care received rarely tended to be a source of concern or criticism, most participants wanted to raise their concerns and fears about access to services and delays in tests or treatments.”
