Cabinet says it will publicly detail millions spent on legal fees at taxpayers’ expense for Charter cases of “national significance.” Critics have long complained of secrecy surrounding the Court Challenges Program.

“Despite delays in finalizing this closed case list the Court Challenges Program is committed to fully complying with this reporting obligation,” cabinet wrote in an Inquiry Of Ministry tabled in the Commons. “A comprehensive list of closed cases funded by the Program to date is expected to be published prior to the next annual report in November.”
