CBC Confirms $497,000 Club
Payments to CBC vice presidents are a half million each, CEO Catherine Tait yesterday disclosed at the Commons heritage committee. One Liberal MP defended the pay, saying executives were motivated by “love of country.”

“If I have learned one thing during my tenure, CBC is a lifeline that links this vast country,” testified Tait. “Losing it will not make Canada better.”

The CBC’s main revenue source is its $1.4 billion annual parliamentary grant. Tait yesterday said the network could use another half billion a year. “We need in the $400 million to $500 million range,” she said.
