A recent study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that isometric exercises, like wall sits, can help reduce your blood pressure more effectively than other forms of exercise.

Jamie Edwards, author of the study and Ph.D. researcher at Canterbury Christ Church University, states, “Any kind of an exercise that is holding tension in any position which doesn’t involve dynamic movement is generally isometric exercise.”

On average, a regular isometric routine of fixed resistance exercises lowered systolic blood pressure by 10 mmHg and diastolic pressure by 5 mmHg, according to the research.
